How can I contact my Arabic or Islamic teacher?

You can call the front desk at AGS and leave a message for the teacher. Find out which teacher your child has and call: + 9712-644-4703 to reach our front desk.

What do I do if my child is ill?

If your child is sick, please keep them home to rest. If they become sick during the day, they may call you to pick them up. Please obtain and send a doctors note to school with your child when they return.

We discourage keeping your child home from school unless they have an illness or emergency because missing class time can negatively affect their performance on assessments and create gaps in their learning. We cannot recreate the classes they have missed, but can send home missed work.

Can I bring in treats or birthday cake?

Please email and ask before sending treats to school. We cannot have cake everytime there is a birthday, but I always give a little gift/card on your child's birthday. We sing "happy birthday" and they get to wear a special hat. :)

How can I help my child at home?

Check in with your child about what they are learning. Ask meaningful questions and dig deep to see what they know. Use the "ask me about" questions under the parent section. Check out the subject section of this website and read about what we are learning in school.

Always look at the homework diary to see if there is anything to do. You can help your child study for their spelling quiz during the week and look over their homework when it is complete. You can remind them to finish their homework on time.

You can use the links provided on this site for games, extra practice and enrichment. If you have a "raz kids" account you can make sure your child is regulary reading (not listening to) the stories and answering the level questions.

You can provide your child with books and resources that they can work on when they are home. You can help your child with projects they need to finish at home, but I discourage you from completing the work for them. This does not allow them to learn or benefit from the work they are assigned.

Thank you for all of your hard work at home!

Which foods are allowed in school?

We only encourage you to pack healthy snacks and meals. Please do not send junk food with your child to school. They should eat a balanced diet including lots of veggies and fruit.

Nuts of any kind are not allowed due to severe allergies which some students at AGS have.

Students should not be eating at the cafeteria frequently, the foods served there are not always in line with our healthy expectations. Students in grade 3 are often not capable of keeping their money secure and lose their dirhams, resulting in tears and no lunch. Please opt for the packed lunch whenever possible.

Thanks for reading :)
